Update on Ulster County Resolution 350 to support repeal of Common Core

Resolution 350 in support of the NYS Senate and assembly bills to end the implementation of common core has been postponed by the sponsor legislator Craig Lopez until November. Mr. Lopez indicated a few changes to be made to help strengthen the language in the resolution prior to it passing through committee and coming to the floor to be voted on by the full Ulster County Legislature. The resolution will be reintroduced the first week of November at the legislative programs committee held on Wednesday the 5th at 5 PM at Ulster County community college.

Please plan to attend the Ulster County legislative session tomorrow Tuesday October 21, 2014 at 7pm to share with our Ulster County legislators how Common Core is adversely impacting your student and family.  The legislature will meet at the County Office Building, 244 Fair Street Kingston New York 12401 in the Legislative Chambers on the 6th floor.  Let me know if you are attending and we can sign in together.  Each person speaking during public comment will be given three minutes to speak.

Also use this coming month to communicate directly with the various legislators regarding your concerns and issues associated with Common Core and why Ulster County should support the repeal of Common Core.  E-mails, phone calls and in-person meetings will all be helpful.
